This place is so much more than just a bookstore… That’s what jumped out at us when we first walked in.
There are books of course, but also an invitation to explore and escape.
Here you can enjoy comic strips, historical books, novels, foreign literature, books on well-being, as well as books and games for kids. The selections are contemporary and in a wide variety of styles to stimulate your curiosity!
We also shouldn’t forget the setting... Completely refurbished by local craftsmen, the space showcases their expertise and invites customers to get reading.
On the shopfront, the tiles were individually positioned by hand.
Upstairs, a wood and steel staircase takes you to a pleasant and cosy space. Tea and coffee are on hand for the ultimate relaxing break as you lounge on a picture perfect sofa!
Four enthusiasts are at the helm of the enterprise: Charlène, Géraldine, Marie and Maeva keep the store running with their love of books and desire to explore the world. It was Charlène who took over the bookstore 8 years ago. Curious by nature, this fan of anthropology and travel has experienced several lives (most notably as a caterer for embassies) before making her lifelong dream come true.
The daily life of the business isn’t always easy (“there’s lots of basic practical stuff such as taking deliveries, unpacking, stocking the shelves and general management”) but luckily it also gives them time to research new releases and offer advice to their equally passionate customers.
Hyper-energetic, demanding and understanding: these three qualities sum up her character, and enabled her to bring the project to fruition.
“I’ve had to be daring, take risks and be stubborn. If it doesn’t work, I know I’ll bounce back!” This philosophy definitively takes on its full meaning when you see the final result.
