We meet Cécile in her studio not far from the district of La Part-Dieu in Lyon. We have to admit that we’re seriously honoured to finally be able to meet her… We’ve been watching her journey for years. A friend of a friend? A blog post? We can’t quite remember how we found out about her.
What we do remember though are her amazingly impressive photos of weddings, engagements and families.
As Edith Piaf would say, Cécile’s photos are a true hymn to love: the love between two newlyweds, the love of parents for their newborn or eldest child, the love that unites friends, siblings and families.
And yet, photography wasn’t really Cécile’s destiny...
In another life, she worked in procurement and finance. Yes, yes...
Because “to open doors’, you need a good degree” (we’ve all heard that one...).
But that was before. Before realising we have only one life, and that it’s worth throwing everything up in the air to do what we really dream of.
Because although finance was OK, it didn’t always sit well with her personal ethics. Add to this a good dose of professional disillusionment (which we won’t dwell on, but frankly, sometimes, the world isn’t great).
And then it all clicked... “Even in the most difficult times, there’s always something positive. You have to dry your tears to see all there is to see!.”
Thinking about it, Cécile had always dreamed of the artist life. A childhood passion for “Let’s Draw Fashion”, a must-have game from the 90s ;), a love of styling, an attempt to get into the prestigious École Boule art school, a seamstress grandmother, a cabinetmaker grandfather, and a love of travel.
Working as an amateur photographer, it was an engagement session in New York that accelerated everything. Her eye is professional, her touch unique (VOGUE named her one of the top 4 wedding photographers, if you please!)
- Her passion: immortalising the beauty of shared happiness.
- Her mission: offering memories that will never disappear. “Memories always end up fading, but the role of photography is to preserve them.”
- Her catchphrase: life is not Instagrammable! You have to know how to keep things authentic. Not everything has to be perfect – it’s the big emotions and little flaws that make the best pictures!
- Something she’s proud of: showing her son you can live your life without any regrets.
Cécile also impresses us with her unfailingly positive attitude.
As seen in the sentences she spontaneously comes out with, our favourite being:
“Life is like the story of Hansel and Gretel: there are lots of little pebbles, you just have to go into the forest to collect them” ;)
With your leopard print pink shoes, your big smile, your talent and your frankness, you’re a true inspiration Cécile!
A wedding, engagement and family photographer, Cécile also undertakes studio photography and corporate assignments.
