Like a fish in water, Camille welcomes us to Maison Ma Bille, her textile co-creation space.
That’s what she likes to call it. Because far from a being simple garment workshop, Maison Ma Bille is an entire eco-system with engaged, creative and generous values.
From textile creation to do-it-yourself workshops, from public awareness to the Fablab, from design office to production... Here, people can imagine, think, exchange ideas, and produce and find solutions for any problem and any project directly or indirectly related to the world of textiles.
A former designer and maker of made-to-measure clothing, Camille is a born entrepreneur!
Her thing: French textile production. Her desire: to create a space that allows everyone to grow. Small creatives as big brands.
She provides sound advice, in-depth knowledge of the value chain, a workplace and a high-performance fleet of machines for those who need it, and bespoke French production expertise for others. What about the general public in all of this? They’re here too! Through awareness-raising workshops, participants discover and learn how to create and consume differently.
It’s all about growing... And not only in one direction: in this virtuous ecosystem, everyone is free to bring their advice, their point of view and their desires, with the ultimate aim of growing expertise around eco-responsible fabrics and textiles.
Talking of which, what's their take on eco-responsibility?
A central value of the “House” and its founders (Camille, Nina and their partner the company Good Match), it’s THE common theme running through everything they do.
It all started from an eco-responsible desire to construct projects together (internalise their production, reuse existing fabric stocks, add value to their designs with handmade, bespoke models and create sustainable products). And not the other way round. Sustainability isn’t the icing on the cake here… it’s an inevitable, unstoppable ingredient, and the starting point of every creative process.
A bag, a clothing range, packaging and corporate gifts (made from fabric of course): there are numerous projects on the go and all of them exciting.
Camille, to finish, a short sentence to describe yourself?
“Enthusiastic but never prepared!
All of our projects are amazing and challenging. We go from surprise to surprise, and we love that! And we always go above and beyond to get them done. We’re a young startup (a year and a half), we still have lots of things to develop, but we’ll get there with our can-do attitude and the fantastic synergies we have with our partners.”
Maison Ma Bille now has 2 addresses in Lyon (rue Franklin and rue d’Enghien) and a motivated and passionate team of 15 people.
